DangerPoint has had PV panels and a battery storage system installed at its north Wales activity centre

  • Seddon Engineering Services has designed and installed a solar PV and battery storage system at leading safety charity, DangerPoint’s activity centre.
  • The new technology has been implemented to help the charity in the global fight against climate change.

A leading safety charity has installed renewable energy at its award-winning activity centre in a bid to improve its carbon footprint.

DangerPoint is an award-winning interactive life skills centre based in Talacre, north Wales. It aims to help people learn in a fun and practical way, to inspire, inform and engage, and to make positive life choices, both for themselves and the environment.

Its offering includes educational tours and a quest activity for schools and organised groups. Groups can learn, for example, about the dangers inside their home. Since 2005, it has educated more than 116,000 people.

Staff at the site wanted to play their part in the fight against climate change and decided to have renewable energy installed to generate their power, lower their energy bills and reduce their carbon dioxide emissions.

Seddon was brought on board to design and install the solar PV and battery system at the north Wales DangerPoint site, which they say will be ‘game-changing’ for the attraction.

Seddon designed and installed a 20.1 kwp solar PV system and 17 kw battery storage system, taking contractors four days to carry out the work.

Robert Moss, Divisional Director of Seddon Engineering Services, said: “It was significant for Seddon to help this game-changing charity reach their net zero potential.

“Not only will it reduce their carbon footprint and lower their energy bills, it will also cement the charity as a UK leader in renewable energy.

“We meticulously assessed the property, ensuring the work was delivered exactly in line with the charity’s core needs. Taking the initiative now means DangerPoint can continue offering hugely important safety information.”

Julie Ann Taylor, from DangerPoint, said: “We are always looking at ways we can improve the environment and help the planet, even to a very small level of detail.

“We knew having Seddon on board to deliver the solar PV and battery storage system installation would result in a great project with huge benefits for us and wider society.

“We want to lead the way when it comes to renewable energy and tackling climate change in north Wales and we know this initiative will go towards achieving that.”

Seddon Engineering Services is part of the Seddon family of specialist companies. It is based in Bolton, north-west England.
