Accelerating Action this International Women’s Day: How hampers.com is Championing Gender Equality from the Top Down

March 8th 2025 marks International Women’s Day, and this year’s theme, Accelerate Action, calls for urgency in advancing gender equality. According to the World Economic Forum, at our current rate, true gender parity won’t be achieved until 2158 – a stark and unacceptable reality. Change must happen now, and hampers.com is living proof that accelerating action is possible – today, not tomorrow.

Leading by Example

At hampers.com, gender equality is not a distant goal. It’s a reality. The hampers.com Senior Leadership Team is composed almost entirely of women, hired not because of their gender, but because of their exceptional talent, expertise, and dedication.

Leading the Operations, Product and Marketing, Corporate, Finance, Customer Care and Logistics functions, hampers.com’s skilled female leaders are breaking barriers across professions traditionally dominated by men, demonstrating that competence knows no gender. By ensuring that hampers.com’s decision-makers reflect the equal world they strive to create, the company is actively challenging outdated norms that hold women’s progress back.

The team is led by Director Hannah Lia, who passionately believes in creating a truly equal workplace, where women are celebrated for their intelligence, performance and ability, and are actively mentored and inspired to become the best in class at what they do.

Hannah Lia

After launching her career in male dominated industries, Hannah navigated high-level operations and project management roles, where she witnessed firsthand the impact of outdated, misogynistic workplace cultures on young women. These experiences shaped her leadership philosophy, fuelling a deep commitment to creating workplaces where women feel valued, empowered, and heard.

Hannah explained that, “At hampers.com, gender equality isn’t just a principle we uphold – we see parity for women as the foundation of stronger businesses, thriving communities, and a more fair society. When women are empowered with equal opportunities, innovation flourishes, workplaces become more dynamic, and progress accelerates for everyone. We are not just committed to change – we are driving it, ensuring that the impact of our efforts extend far beyond today and instead shapes a more equitable future for generations to come.”.

Hiring for Skill, Not Stereotypes

For too long, women have been underrepresented in leadership positions, often judged by outdated biases rather than merit. However, hampers.com rejects this notion entirely. The company believes in hiring the best minds, regardless of gender, race, or background. By actively dismantling the biases that hinder women’s career advancements, hampers.com creates an environment where talent is the only criteria for success.

Beyond leadership, the very fabric of hampers.com is woven with the strength and intelligence of women. The majority of hampers.com’s office staff are women, not by design, but because they are the best at what they do. The business has cultivated a culture where women are not just present, but empowered – encouraged to speak, lead, and innovate without limitations.

An incredible example of this culture is Lauren, hampers.com’s Financial Controller. Unlike many in her position, she didn’t come from a big-name financial firm. She started at hampers.com in an accounting role, driven by passion and an unshakable work ethic. Through years of dedication, continuous learning, and mentorship, Lauren worked her way up, proving her capabilities at every step.

Lauren

Today, she leads hampers.com’s finance department with confidence, managing a team she built from the ground up. Her journey is a testament to what happens when women’s talent is recognised and nurtured, rather than overlooked.

Lauren shared that “Success isn’t about where you start – it’s about the challenges you embrace, the opportunities you’re given, and the belief you have in yourself. At hampers.com, I’ve had the chance to grow in an environment where women are empowered to lead, challenge the status quo, and redefine what’s possible in business. Now, as I lead a team of talented women, I see firsthand the power of support, mentorship, and a culture that values our voices. When women are given the space to thrive, we don’t just succeed – we lift each other up and create lasting change.”.

Inspiring the Next Generation

Achieving gender equality isn’t just about representation; it’s about systemic change. That’s why hampers.com have implemented progressive policies that ensure fairness in pay, promotions, and the highest levels of support for mums returning to work. The business actively mentors and supports women in their careers, providing opportunities for growth and development at every level.

Outside of the core team, hampers.com is committed to fostering gender equality by actively choosing to work with women-owned suppliers and women-owned agencies whenever possible. By seeking partnerships with women-led enterprises, hampers.com helps create more opportunities for female entrepreneurs, strengthening their economic influence, and contributing to closing the gender gap in business.

Supporting women-owned businesses helps break down systemic barriers, ensuring greater representation and equity in industries where women have historically been underrepresented. Through these conscious choices, hampers.com aims to advance economic empowerment and create a more balanced and equitable marketplace for all.

By committing to this approach, hampers.com recognises that accelerating action isn’t just about the present, it’s about securing the future. That’s why the company invests in mentorship programs for young women, sponsors Didcot Casual Girls Football Club, and empowers future female business leaders. By setting this precedent, hampers.com hopes to inspire other companies to follow suit, proving that gender equality isn’t just an ideal, but an achievable reality.

hampers.com refuses to wait until 2158 for change. The time to act is now. On this International Women’s Day, hampers.com calls upon other businesses, institutions, and individuals to take bold steps toward gender equality. Representation, fair policies, and an inclusive work environment are not optional – they are necessities.

Let’s #AccelerateAction together. Because when women rise, we all rise.

Happy International Women’s Day from all of us at hampers.com.
