The synthetic fabric traditionally used to make vegan leather (polyurethane or PU) contains a harmful chemical and fossil fuels. Not good for the planet, workers or animals. A few years back innovators began developing plant-based textiles – using pineapple leaves, cactus leaves, grape waste, apple skins – and consumer demand is growing for the eco choice. Being the pioneer brand, James&Co made the early decision to end using PU in our fashion products and embrace the more sustainable fabrics.
