Struggling to lend out his car easily, founder, Freddy Macnamara spotted a gap in a very dated industry. He set up the award-winning insurance app, Cuvva in 2016 to offer customers a flexible alternative - hourly car insurance to suit people’s on-demand lifestyles. Changing the way insurance is bought and sold in the UK, Cuvva has become the most downloaded insurtech app in the UK, giving customers the option of only paying for what they need. The startup has expanded to offer personal car, learner and van insurance, as well as single trip travel insurance. It’s launching a pay-monthly car insurance product mid-2020.
