36 | Influential Businesswoman Awards 2026 Most Influential Businesswoman of the Year 2026 (Hong Kong): Do Do Chan & Excellence in Strategic Legal Leadership & Global Governance 2026 cross what is a complex and multifaceted role at Emperor Group, Do Do Chan supports the Group’s boards and senior management through complex real estate transactions, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and risk management. She works exclusively with the internal stakeholders in Emperor Group’s diverse ecosystem, advising everyone from board directors to project teams on high-value, high-impact matters with legal, commercial, and technical considerations. Do Do’s experience across these areas stems from a career in the real estate, construction, and corporate governance sectors, and she sits atop numerous qualifications in both engineering and law. Do Do told us: “My engineering background allows me to understand projects at a structural and technical level, while my legal training enables me to manage risk, negotiations, and regulatory requirements.” In combining the two, she is well prepared to succeed across complex developments and making board-level decisions. Looking back over her time with Emperor Group, which began in 2018 with a role in its legal counsel and has thus far culminated in her promotion to associate legal director early last year, one highlight that really stands out for Do Do has been building and leading its in-house legal and compliance function, which is trusted and respected by the Group’s board and business units. The legal team have even won awards under her leadership. One of the most rewarding things for Do Do is that her professional growth has gone hand-in-hand with the real (but still uneven) progress of the industry, with more women today entering law, property, and professional services than when she first began in this space. Despite these sectors being more open than ever, women still have to work harder to be heard, a challenge Do Do has experienced first-hand. Determined to see that the new generation of female employees do not have to deal with these difficulties, Do Do makes the support she gives to others as an integral part of her professional responsibilities within the Group, rather than something tacked on. She plays a particularly active role in mentoring junior professionals and younger team members, believing that responsibility, exposure to decision making, and access to meaningful work are all opportunities teams need to have with if they are to grow and thrive. Beyond some of the more obvious external obstacles, Do Do was quick to reaffirm that progress is just as much about managing internal pressure (like self-doubt or perfectionism) as it is anything else. This is a perspective she gained after attending a Female Entreprenuers Worldwide ceremony where Diane Wang was the speaker. The philosophy of the ‘inner mountain’ her talk centred on struck a chord with Do Do, who realised that leadership is as much about mastering this inner mountain as it is managing others. Following this, she shared: “My advice to other women is to focus on building inner strength alongside professional capability. Technical competence is essential, but so is judgment, consistency, and emotional resilience.” Embodying all of these qualities will serve women looking to work in these environments well moving forwards, even in the face of economic uncertainty, cautious investors, and an emphasis on resilience over expansion. With her sights set on the future, Do Do told us how the world of executive leadership in asset-heavy industries is changing rapidly as a result of alternative asset structures, such as tokenisation in real estate. At the same time, many people are doubling down on trusted stores of value such as precious metals, which offer less risk than these volatile markets. Emperor Group will therefore have to combine traditional assets with modern structures, and Do Do will be there at every step to provide robust risk management and governance. Recognised in this programme for the invaluable contribution she brings to Emperor Group, Do Do Chan is steering the Group and the wider fields of engineering and law to a more diverse, prosperous future. For this, she is more than worthy of celebration.
