This tenacity against all odds has driven her success as a business owner and sponsorship sales expert for the last four decades. When many other PR and integrated marketing firms haven’t lasted the test of time, Sylvia’s own firm, Allen Consulting, has continued to adapt in an ever-changing landscape. Forty-four years later, not only is Allen’s firm striving, but it’s continuing to win international praise and awards from its multitude of clients. Allen states that her core values since the beginning have been to always listen, remain honest, always come from a place of integrity, under-promise and over-deliver, go above and beyond, and never short-change others. Allen was inspired to create Sylvia’s Children, a non-profit focused on improving the lives of children in rural Uganda. She has singlehandedly raised millions of dollars, which has gone to building teacher and orphan housing and other infrastructure, including a 6,000-square-foot medical clinic. Her non-profit has even saved the lives of countless children, many of whom have been orphaned due to the AIDS epidemic. Her dedication to the cause has even earned her the title of ‘Philanthropist of the Year’ by the Association of Fundraising Professionals. Throughout Allen’s career, she has been honored with more than 50 awards and has remained a dedicated and sought-after professional motivational speaker and corporate sponsorship and fundraising expert.
