Influential Businesswoman Awards 2023

52 Acquisition International - Influential Businesswoman Awards 2023 Jun23153 Expert Caregivers’ Network CEO of the Year 2023 (Northeast USA): Carol Greco Like most exceptional businesses, WeCare4® was formed out of a recognition of a vital need. Now, it has become a vital caregivers’ network cherished by innumerable users. But WeCare4® was built on a foundation of experience and lessons on Founder Carol Greco’s previous endeavours. We speak with Carol to find out more about her work on the back of her recognition in the programme. t would probably be a natural start to talk about the foundation that Carol created that would, eventually, lead to what WeCare4® is today. Before WeCare4® existed, Family Care Necessities™ (FCN) was established to fulfil a similar space as the former would eventually become. By all regards, FCN was a huge success that achieved the mission Carol had set from the outset, but also brought with it its fair share of lessons and experiences. Carol tells us, “I originally launched FCN to fill a void in childcare that I felt as a working mother of three very young children. FCN eventually expanded into a very successful childcare and eldercare placement agency and consultancy. “Thirty years later, I found myself in a similar situation except with my parents and in-laws. Because of my experience associated with the challenges of all aspects of their care and my resolve to make it easier for others facing similar circumstances, I founded WeCare4®, built on the foundation of FCN.” “The purpose of WeCare4®, as our tag line states, is Helping Those Who Care for Others™. Its primary focus is on caregivers of the aging while also serving caregivers of those with special needs.” Today, WeCare4® has exploded, and now celebrates a global, diverse community, platform, and portfolio of resources. In Carol’s own words, it has become a rich community, “which includes family, friends, and professionals, and the entire ecosystem that supports them”. Because, caring is often challenging, and there isn’t a manual to best practices. I Resources are scarce, and help seems nonexistent when you need it most. Carol was only too aware of the problems, as she explains, “The catalyst for founding WeCare4® was my husband’s and my experience caring for our aging parents for over 25 years while raising our children and working full time. We often have commented if you look up the phrase, “sandwich generation”, you would see a picture of us. Unlike children, whom we help “grow up” to hopefully become increasingly less dependent, our parents are too often “growing down” and becoming more and more dependent. We found in caring for our parents that because there was not something like WeCare4® in the market and available to us, we wasted a lot of resources (time, money, and even our health and well-being) in trying to care for them and what seemed like their ever-changing needs. Two cases of Alzheimer’s, one case of terminal cancer, and another of multiple heart and other health issues were a real journey for us and one that we never expected to have.” Carol continues, “Our parents were not prepared for the aging and medical issues that they faced, and neither were we. I have also come to realise that many of my peers have been facing the same concerns from how to handle the financial burden of caring for loved ones to finding the right treatment for them. Add into the mix the ethical issues of how to treat advanced Alzheimer’s patients who were not specific in their medical directives. Then, who has time to search for the information and the products and services required for their care? Even if you do think you have found what you might be looking for, is it from a reliable trusted source interested in providing you with a more complete picture regarding your alternatives?” These are all considerations that have shaped WeCare4® into the service it is today, with an ethos defined by good, trusted information, tools, and resources. The company and its team care – Empathy runs through every tier and level of its operations. Much of that originated with Carol. Now, WeCare4® has firmly positioned itself as the crux of the industry, filling a vital need for a userbase that sorely needed it.
