However, after undertaking projects for a handful of clients, Kelley decided to take on the business full-time. A year after its creation, she left the retail industry and delved headfirst into the evolution of Hidden Path Creative. Kelley boasts over 20 years of experience as a graphic designer, with much of her knowledge stemming from her time working at the esteemed American stores, Dick’s Sporting Goods and Kohl’s. The Rochester Institute of Technology alum spent eight years working inhouse at Dick’s Sporting Goods, and during this time, Kelley designed packaging for leading brands such as Maxfli and Slazenger. She credits this time with teaching her how to stand out, tell a story, and – most importantly – how to connect with customers. Thanks to these experiences, in which she dealt with fashion, fragrances, sports goods, beauty brands, and more, Kelley boasts a deep understanding of what works. For example, Kelley worked with the female-owned business, DominoWear, to create packaging for its flagship product, the DominoWear Period Panty. Utilising feminine, welcoming graphics, and natural materials, Kelley has emphasised the client’s commitment to both the environment and the community. As a result, Kelley’s understated yet elegant design won Hidden Path Creative a USA 2021 American Graphic Design Award in the Packaging Design Category. In addition, through Hidden Path Creative, Kelley designed the primary and secondary packaging for August + Monroe’s 3-in-1 Blemish Camouflage, which was designed with an audience of men and women in mind. It was imperative that the packaging reflected that this was not simply a blemish treatment, but that the product was luxury skincare. Wrapped in Kelley’s creation, the 3-in-1 Blemish Camouflage would go on to be showcased in British Vogue, Glamour, Forbes. As of 2022, Kelley is working with a range of clients to revamp the packaging design for their full range of products, with the goal being to get the items on the shelves of major retailers like the Container Store and Target. In turn, Hidden Path Creative is looking to grow. The upcoming year is going to be an exciting time for Kelley and her company, as she is currently working on a framework that will allow for advanced structuring within the business and, consequently, evolution.
