Acquisition International - 2021 Non-Profit Organisations Awards Most Transformational Climate Change & Sustainable Development NPO 2021 ENERGIES 2050 is a unique adventure which works on the transversality of development with a systemic approach by going from global subjects to sectorial subjects while systematically favouring nexus approaches. We work with a large network of citizen organisations around the world, but also with States, international institutions and local governments, as well as coalition of stakeholder or companies engaged in the transition. Our vision is a plural and comprehensive approach to the essential transformations to be implemented in the service of a positive future co-constructed from universal values of benevolence and solidarity. Our particularity is that we have high-level technical expertise in all of our intervention disciplines, whether in our teams or in the consortia that we set up. We believe that the best advocacy is the testimony of the relevance and the additionality of our actions and those of our members and partners. Our goal is to show that the development trajectories that our societies have taken and continue to take are not inevitable and that we can turn constraints into opportunities for action for the greatest number. Without being exhaustive, ENERGIES 2050 is active in the following topics: climate change; eco-development and sustainable development; sustainable cities and territories; low-carbon development strategies; gender; environment and energy policies; energy transition; development of renewable energy sources; buildings and the construction sector; natural resources and the common goods of humanity; ecological and environmental economics; responsible entrepreneurships and corporate performance; responsible and sustainable tourism; environmental education; social dynamics; behavioural change and citizen action; and social and solidarity economy. ENERGIES 2050 has also founded or co-founded and is involved in several international initiatives (we can mention the Climate ENERGIES 2050 has, among others, supported several African countries in preparing their Intended Nationally Determined Contributions (INDC) within the COP21 preparation process as their contribution to the 2015’s Paris Agreement design. The association is currently engaged in the process of revising several countries sectorial NDCs and in setting up monitoring and evaluation systems both for the adaptation and the mitigation pillars. The association and its partners have also submitted and carried out projects and programs in the context of climate finance and in particular the Green Climate Fund (GCF), the Adaptation Fund or the Global Environment Facility, or under the carbon mechanisms. The subject of the territorialisation of climate commitments in Africa and the establishment of a structured dialogue between national and local levels are also at the heart of the association’s activities among other with United Cities and Local Governments of Africa (UCLG Africa), the umbrella organization for African local governments under the so called vertical structured dialogue. In 2012, the association has also launched ethiCarbon Afrique®, an innovative carbon tool that aims to contribute to a genuine African energy revolution by creating a high ethical added value for “carbon” abatement while supporting hundreds of adaptation projects and activities in least developing countries. The tool, ethiCarbon®, which is a unique combination of carbon mechanism and adaptation concerns, is also embracing a worldwide dissemination activities to be officially relaunched beginning of next 2022 year. ENERGIES 2050 also sets up numerous international citizen and artistic initiatives and, in particular, for more than 9 years the international ART’s PLANET initiative with, among others, exhibitions in the biggest conferences of the international agenda. While creating additional revenue for artists and contributors, generated revenues help to support youth and vulnerable communities worldwide. The theme of the 2019 edition was: Climate change is not a fake news! Let’s act for our planet. To illustrate the inspiring themes of previous editions we can mention also the 2018 and 2017 ones. Respectively: “Climate - Development - Solidarity: 7 billion Humans, 7 billion Solutions” and “Climate, Migration and Solidarity: The Art of the Collectiveness”.
