Contact: Amy Davies Company: Dodds & Shute Web Address: www.doddsandshute.com Best Design-Led Procurement Operations Director 2026 (UK): Amy Davies Amy Davies first started her career in procurement and operations working at a FTSE 100, where she learned stringent systematic processes such as SOX compliance. She shadowed both the Finance Director and Sales Director, which equipped her with the unique perspectives of two different decision-makers. Understanding the foundations of finance, procurement, and operations in the design industry was fundamental to driving Amy’s growth in this space. Following this role, Amy later moved to work for a SME with a startup feel and loved every minute of her work. She stayed with the company for nine years, with five of those years spent as an Operations Director. This role was a huge turning point in Amy’s career, teaching her the important art of relationship building. “Relationship building is an important aspect of any role, challenges are overcome by being able to speak to your supply chain, the team and clients openly,” she said. Amy has been with Dodds & Shute for a year, joining the company to lead its operations team and drive operational business strategy. “Dodds & Shute appealed to me as it’s at the growth stage of a business, making my day-to-day role incredibly diverse,” she told us. “The owners and team are energic, authentic individuals, complete experts at what they do, creating beautiful projects. There are challenges we overcome, but I have high standards and enjoy developing and nurturing those around me.” Since joining Dodds & Shute, Amy has experienced a whirlwind year of fun, entrepreneurial spirit, and intensity. With her role requiring strategic leadership and operational oversight across all areas of the business, she has focused her attention on helping put in place the processes for the next phase of growth; restructuring teams and hiring where there were gaps; and, most importantly, mentoring and training the team. This is a significant advancement in a field that hasn’t always seen females in leadership roles. “I’ve had some fantastic mentors,” Amy shared. “However, at the start of my career, there weren’t many women in leadership roles. I see progress, but there is still much further to go. Part of my role involves monitoring programmes on construction sites. I now see more females entering project management than there ever has been before. This is especially nice to see, as there is historically limited diversity on construction sites.” Over the course of her career, Amy has seen promising advancement across the industry. She recognises a growing all-round awareness of the importance of inclusion, promoting flexibility and work-life balances through training and publicity. As a working mother herself, she appreciated Dodds & Shute reputation for fairness, equality, and leading change in the industry.
