The studio was established when Julie Peelo, its Creative Director, decided to combine her extensive experience in design with her love for the fashion industry to create an eponymous line of contemporary bags and accessories. ulie Peelo has always been passionate about creating quality accessories that people will love and cherish. She set out to kickstart her career in fashion when she graduated from Dublin’s National College of Art and Design, where she studied fashion textiles. She worked for Irish designer John Rocha before leaving for Milan to work with handbags and jewellery at luxury label Marni. Making the decision to leave Ireland for Italy was just the beginning of Julie’s impressive international career. She was head-hunted from J Marni to work with John Galliano in Paris, where she assisted with the launch of his accessory line. Later, Julie was invited to work in the accessory and handbag division for Diane von Furstenberg in New York, where she assisted with the successful establishment of the DVF accessory business. After this, she played a role in the reinvention of Juicy Couture in the same city. Julie eventually moved back home to Ireland, where she took up a position as a design director for the country’s largest retailer, Dunnes Stores. Over the years, Julie has chased her dreams across the globe, designing bags that have been worn by notable celebrities such as Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez, and Jessica Biel. She is incredibly proud of what she has accomplished throughout her career. In 2020, she decided to leverage her extensive experience in the industry to launch her own eponymously named design studio, PEELO. At PEELO, Julie creates vibrant handbags made from premium leather, drawing inspiration from architecture and fashion design to deliver a multi-layered, sensory experience through her various pieces. She strives to juxtapose contemporary and vintage styles with the goal of producing modern accessories that are built to last. This is at the heart of her approach to design.
