She slept on a blow-up mattress in the kitchen, having given her mother the only bedroom. Today, the pair are renting a home with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. “Failure was not an option,” Traci explains. “Never give up hope. God has carried me through my journey and has much bigger plans for the future.” The caregiving space is heavily populated by women, meaning there are few gender inequalities in the industry. However, Traci has faced some challenges in starting a business as a woman, especially in accessing any kind of funding. Despite this, she believes that there are now a lot more opportunities for women to start companies than there were in the past. “I’ve been blessed to work with a lot of great CEOs who have offered great assistance, both male and female. I believe you have to be open to learning from others that are already at a higher level,” Traci says. “I also would never have made it to where I am today without being courageous enough to always ask if something were possible to do. You always have to ask – push the boundaries. You never know what the answer may be.” Through Smart Caregiving and Caregiving Worldwide, Traci Lamb is helping caregivers across the world access the resources and services they need to both take care of themselves and provide care to their loved ones. As a result, she has been awarded Most Influential Caregiving CEO in the Influential Businesswoman Awards 2023.
