Influential Businesswoman Awards 2018

Acquisition International - 2018 Influential Businesswoman Awards 21 IW180038 Most Inspirational Woman in TV Production - France McCannWorldgroup With a global presence and a talented and experienced international team, McCann has created some of the best-known and most iconic advertising campaigns of the last century. Over the past six years that she has worked for the group, Laura has been instrumental in supporting the group and helping it to achieve this, and has worked in both Shanghai and Paris. She is proud to share her experiences in these countries and explore how she has helped shape the brand by sharing her expertise and knowledge. “The last six years have been very exciting for me, as I have had the privilege to work in both Shanghai and Paris for McCann. In Shanghai I was given the task of creating the Shanghai Beauty Team production department from scratch. When I arrived, there were a few freelancers who worked mostly on adaptations plus one or two original campaigns per year. I built a hand-selected L’Oreal team, improved work process and left Shanghai with a highly functioning department that produced with excellence over 20 integrated campaigns per year. I still oversee their activities. “My current role in Paris is similar to the one I held in Shanghai, as I maintain global oversight of all production globally particularly in the main hubs: Shanghai, New York, Paris, London, Moscow, Mexico City and Bangkok, working closely with the business directors and producers in those regions. I also produce and oversee a team of talented producers and post producers in Paris working with the L’Oreal Paris DMI team on all their global campaigns.” Prior to her role at McCann Laura worked for a number of companies around the world, and this has provided her with experience for her current position as well as providing her with an insight into the industry as a whole, and how accessible it is for women. Laura believes that although women have little problem entering the industry, more needs to be done to allow them to achieve their full potential. “Previously I was Head of Production at Atelier-LB in NYC a part of Leo Burnett dedicated to Procter and Gamble’s global beauty brands, and I draw on this experience in my current role. It has also given me a strong insight into the beauty market and the revolution it has undergone since I first entered it. When I started in advertising there were very few women in leadership roles. My very first job in advertising was as a receptionist. Back in the day, there were still people who answered phones and took messages! When I was promoted to assistant producer and producer there were many times when I was the only woman in a roomful of men. “Personally, it is my belief that the industry has always been relatively easy for women to enter into, as there are many low level jobs that women used to take and still do take. The bigger question, the one we must still work on, is about how difficult it still seems to be to have women in leadership roles. I am proud that the Beauty Team has a history of having women Presidents like Aude Gandon, with whom I worked at Atelier LB and is now Global Brand Director Android- Google Play - Chrome- Chromebooks at Google, and our current President, Caroline Montrichard. It’s also inspiring that McCann Worldgroup has several women leaders including Nannette Dufour, former Beauty Team President now President, Global Clients & Business Leadership. I’m also very proud to work with Charlotte Franceries, Global Brand Image Director L’Oreal Paris. These are strong women in leadership roles and I consider them role models. In the course of my career I have worked for or with many strong women and I hope that I have also been an influence on young women in the industry.” Currently, the advertising market is changing and adapting around the various technological developments that it is seeing, and as such everyone operating within it needs to adapt and change. As such, in her concluding comments Laura shares the importance of adapting and how she will be seeking to support her team through this period. “Ultimately, in the advertising industry production has changed so much since I started and we are in the midst of a revolution regarding the way clients and agencies work together and produce content. We all need to adapt and find our place, and this will be my core focus over the coming years as I seek to support McCann and enrich my own skillset.” McCann Worldgroup, a subsidiary of Interpublic Group, is a leading global marketing services company with an integrated network of advertising agencies in over 120 countries.
