We spoke with Co-Founder, Mimi Saine on the back of Sage Home Chef’s recognition in the awards programme to find out more. t wouldn’t be an overstatement to say that the home chef industry has exploded over the last couple of years, and especially over the pandemic, when collectively we all started to take our health and wellness more seriously. That also included the food we ate. For many, the last four years have been a catalyst towards a renewed drive towards attaining healthier habits, and as they say, that often starts in the kitchen. That’s something that Mimi firmly believes too, as she explains in more detail. “We believe that health starts in the kitchen, with stress-free homecooked nutritious food. Many want to eat healthier but don’t know how or don’t have the time and end up eating foods that cause chronic inflammation, and eventually disease. We bridge the gap for our community by preparing clean, healthy, and delicious meals chock-full of local and organic whole foods whenever possible. Our community feels the difference, and often tell us they feel the best they’ve ever felt after eating our food. Good food leads to vitality. Vitality allows you to show up in the world with your best foot forward.” Of course, this drive has been embraced by people from all walks of life and in all demographics, knowing no bounds and inspiring all to make changes – no matter how small they may be in the grand scheme of things. Sage Home Chef has catered to the needs of all of its clients and customers, understanding that flexibility and variety is the way forwards and the way to secure enduring success. “We serve all different types of people. Busy singles, folks needing help adhering to a therapeutic diet, couples, families, the elderly, you name it. What sets us apart is our nutritional focus and expertise. Linda and Mimi, the owners and founders of Sage, both hold a Master of Science in Nutrition. Their studies and experiences in the world of nutrition are the foundation of the business which vibrates through all operations, from the intake questions we ask clients to meal compositions of the dishes we prepare.” There’s something very special about Sage Home Chef that looks set to grow exponentially very soon – and Mimi is prepared to embrace that explosive growth when it comes. The drive to succeed is also firmly held by the greater team, who are passionate and committed to the values of the company. “Each chef has a personal food story that led them to us and created the urge to share the power of heathy food with their community. The love our chefs pour into the food created is felt by the client, and forms the kernel of the success of our company. Clients are happy to be fed beautiful food and chefs are just as happy to have a platform to express their passions,” Mimi adds, before continuing to discuss the potential challenges that the company faces as it I moves forwards. Chief among those is navigating the rising costs of operating such a business while maintaining the quality of the product and talent. “Our biggest challenge is toggling the middle-ground between changes in inflation and labour shortages. What is a good wage for a chef these days? What is a fair price to charge a client? How do we make sure both the client and the chef are getting the best deal possible? In order to stay ahead we have raised our base hourly wage as well as our hourly charge for clients.” Ultimately, for now, Mimi and Sage Home Chef are looking towards streamlining its services towards greater client-centricity, as she concludes in her closing comments. “We are launching an app! All of our operations will take place within the app, simplifying all of our processes, making everyone’s lives easier.
