Led by a team of professional and caring teachers, Dancing in XS is not just about making dancers. Instead, they aim to build children’s self-esteem and confidence by teaching them responsibility, respect, loyalty and above all, a passion for dance. Dancing in XS always has its doors open to dancers of any ability and has cultivated a sense of family, with many of the students returning after their graduation to this place where they feel at home. Established in 1998 as the first dancing studio in the Doral area, Dancing in XS was taken over by Adriana Nassiff in 2005, who had been a part of the Dancing in XS community for several years before. Since then, she has helped over 3,000 children along their dancing journeys and puts her success down to dancing being a hobby, never a career for her. Born in Bogota, Colombia, where she also got her degree in Social Communication, Adriana has always lived to dance. She left Colombia for the US in 2001, deciding to focus on expanding her knowledge of dance by studying in different dance studios around Miami. When the previous owner of Dancing in XS decided to move on, Adriana was quick to seize the opportunity to take on the challenge. Soon, Dancing in XS was Adriana’s whole world. However, the past fifteen years have not been without their challenges for Adriana. Although dominated by women and offering many opportunities for progression and promotion, dance as an industry is vastly more competitive for women than it is for men. Combined with the challenges faced by being an immigrant establishing herself in an industry in a country she had not studied in, all in a second language, Adriana truly had her work cut out for her. As the dance industry becomes increasingly competitive, Adriana has accepted that Dancing in XS may not end up as the largest dance school in America. However, she prides herself in the recognition and accolade that Dancing in XS has received over the years, and the satisfaction and positivity created by sharing her passion with children is more than enough reward for Adriana. After all, success is assured in the long term when doing things for love, rather than money. Fostering a healthy balance of competition and support with neighboring studio directors has been crucial to the success of Dancing in XS, as well as constantly looking at ways to develop and be the best it can be for its pupils. Most recently, this has included While Dancing in XS may be recognized as one of the ten best dance studios in South Florida, for Director Adriana Nassiff, the company is so much more than a school.
