In the space of nine years, iFood have become the leading FoodTech company in Latin America, and as Diego goes on to explain, a number of factors have supported the firm’s growth. “As a FoodTech platform, our growth can be attributed to a combination of high-frequency transactions, excellence in technology, artificial intelligence, amazing people and ongoing investments in innovation. “Collectively we have worked hard to create capabilities to connect and coordinate the food value chain, relying heavily on machine learning technology to achieve scale and manage complexity. Only with these elements can a company entirely change the global food value chain, and as such this will remain the core focus for the entire iFood team over the coming years.” Since joining the company in 2018, Diego has led the largest venture capital capital deployment (USD 500 million) in Brazil, with iFood processing millions of orders per month. However, as he goes on to explain, the vast experience he has gained in previous positions has held him in good stead as CFO of iFood today. “Initially, I was interested in law having achieved a law degree in 2007. However, after almost three years at Mattos Filho Law Firm, I changed my career path, taking up new positions in finance and strategy. In 2011, I became one of the youngest finance directors in South America, managing more than three billion USD revenues, equity and debt public offerings as well as large M&A’s throughout the world. After being admitted by IMD Business School, I then achieved my MBA degree in 2014.
