Over recent years we have been following our clients as they make the big move out of the city, so are working on some fantastic country residences in addition to our city-based projects. This is testimony to the level of excellence myself and my team pride ourselves on and the success of our client-focused approach.” From its base in Central London, the firm now maintains a varied client base, from families and homeowners to developers. Projects the firm has undertaken include homes, developments and commercial properties, ranging from large city houses and apartments, to extensions, basements, roof conversions, refurbishments and interiors. Clear procedures and effective communication are fundamental to achieving optimum design potential, taking a project through from initial sketches and permissions, to costing, construction detailing, and interior fit out, and are all aspects that Georgina takes very seriously as she seeks to make her mark in this male dominated market. She explains how she has worked hard to overcome the challenges she has faced over the years to ensure she and PEEK continue to flourish. “Even today construction is a male dominated industry, and on rare occasions at initial meetings I get a slight resistance from other consultants and contractors, especially when you are positioned as the lead consultant on a job. Construction is a collaborative process, so I overcome any prejudices by being open and positive, and overall, good at my job. “Overcoming this challenge is something I take great pride in, and I believe that this is success is due to my hard-working nature and willingness to learn. I've learnt most of my useful knowledge from the staff working on the sites themselves, and have gained practical knowledge from them that has enhanced my career immensely.” Seeking to enhance her company’s success over the coming years, Georgina has exciting plans to drive it to even greater renown and expand its service offering, as she proudly concludes. “Currently, at PEEK we are developing some bespoke furniture pieces, light fittings and designs for ironmongery. In her opening comments Georgina outlines how far she and her company have come over the past 13 years. “At the beginning of my career I graduated from the Bartlett School of Architecture at UCL, and my transformative time there under the guidance of my tutors, Paul Monaghan and Simon Allford from the renowned firm AHMM, can probably be compared to a kind of amazing, architectural bootcamp. During my years in education, I continued to work part time throughout. The extra contacts and experience I gained in this time were invaluable for setting out on my own very early on, and after completing my chartership, I started my own firm soon after. “Since then I have been the proud leader of PEEK, and in the last 10 years have had the privilege of working with a loyal client base who have entrusted me with some great projects.
